The Twisted Realm

The story unfolds with the sudden appearance of a blood-red moon in the sky, marking an event that history would come to know as the "Red Moon Incident." In its wake, humanity faces devastation as most of the world spirals into chaos, leaving only a fraction of survivors who are forced to seek refuge within fortified cities, protected by towering walls. But even among these survivors, not all are safe from a mysterious new threat.

A select few individuals exhibit strange psychological mutations, and while some manage to control their altered states, others cannot. Those who lose control emit a dangerous "mental plague" that radiates outward, contaminating and destabilizing the minds of those nearby. This phenomenon poses a severe threat to humanity’s fragile remnants.

To address these deadly contamination sources, the walled city establishes a Special Pollution Cleanup Department, an elite unit tasked with eradicating this peril. Only those who can harness and control their mental powers are recruited for these perilous missions. Our protagonist, Lu Xin, steps forward, applying for the most dangerous position in the cleanup team—a role that demands both bravery and a steely grip on one's mind.
