The main character (MC) embodies a horror movie protagonist not because of the吓唬ingly dark storyline, but due to his brainwave pattern mirroring that archetype. He understands the consequences firsthand, as friends repeatedly assure him of safety, only for it to turn into imminent danger. For instance, his companion admitted that their previous expedition to a ruin would be perilous, not deadly, but full of hazards. The MC should have realized that even without instant fatalities, severe injuries or lifelong disabilities could lurk, like his soul wound, which luckily led to a soul-repairing formula from enemies.

Initially, the MC was portrayed as cautious, but that谨慎 often appeared cowardly. His extraordinary abilities were once unparalleled, but later became less effective. The longevity potion he shared with his clan became a symbol, but it didn't deter kidnappers despite his vast knowledge and creations, save for a forgotten ghost Gu that nearly put him in danger.

The MC's luck seemed to waver with his lack of foresight; he could have focused on improving his existing power rather than creating more gadgets. Many of his inventions, like the Snake Gu and the Water Bear, diminished in significance. His clan took advantage of him, forcing missions that felt like suicide, and his anonymity with clones protected him from fusions.

The abundance of high-quality Gu made low-grade ones seem insignificant, and the MC's thoughts were scattered. His cheat ability was inconsistent, requiring occasional intense focus and occasional borrowing from other Gu. He was overly submissive to his wife, who took his innocence, and his personal life revolved around her.

As the story progressed, the MC's adventures veered into a more clichéd plot, losing the novelty of his unique abilities. His stability waned, and his cheat became more like a sporadic revelation, akin to a scholarly prodigy suddenly gaining wisdom. For readers who joined later, his journey resembled that of a genius alchemist, destined to become a pirate king, offend others, and engage in drawn-out conversations that stretched across chapters.

The novel predominantly revolves around technical aspects, research, resource acquisition, and so forth, resulting in extensive information dumps. The storyline is straightforward and lacks substantial action; the protagonist, MC, engages in combat fewer than five times throughout the entire narrative. Instead, the focus is on character development, new abilities, and various concepts that dominate the early chapters but are quickly overshadowed by the constant introduction of new elements, which may also fade into obscurity.

Despite the potential for an engaging cultivation story, the author excels at character portrayal, with a rarity of arrogant young masters or inter-clan conflicts. Virtually everyone within the clan is portrayed positively, with the exception of a traitor dealt with promptly. If you enjoy a slow-paced novel that delves into the protagonist's growth without much action, this might be your preference. However, if you prefer a more action-packed, fast-paced tale with twists, mysteries, or suspense, this particular novel would not cater to those tastes.

Honestly, I found the novel to be quite enjoyable; it met my expectations by providing a lighthearted, entertaining experience as I read through it. The title and synopsis accurately conveyed what I could expect, which was a leisurely journey with a touch of excitement.

The protagonist was portrayed admirably - cautious yet proactive in enhancing his abilities, striking a balance between prudence and calculated risks. I particularly appreciated the detailed depiction of his growth, from developing diverse techniques, formations, and Gu insects. Although the overall tone leaned towards slice-of-life, the occasional conflicts kept the story engaging and prevented it from becoming monotonous.

Character-wise, the cast may not have been extensive, but the key figures remained consistent throughout, even after a hundred or more chapters. In terms of drawbacks, I didn't have many since I went into the novel seeking a simple, fun adventure, which I indeed found. For those with high expectations, perhaps they should consider the title itself as a heads-up.
