The Mortal Who Defied

Grief and suffering, that had been the past six years of Astraea's life. She had abandoned herself after the death of her little brother Lucas along with her once loved hobbies. However, she decided to change her ways on what would have been Lucas' fifteenth birthday and get a new job. Out with the fishing boats and in with the printing presses as Astraea begins editing and proofreading Astrophelle's best news stories. Once comfortable in her new position, change emerges among the horizon. The supernaturals were preparing for yet another war, since the werewolves and vampires had unfinished business. This time, they had a bone to pick with the mortals, mere humans. Comfortable within the confines of her new world, Astraea plans on remaining hidden in the shadows of ink and paper. Her father, General Duarte Lark, has other plans, unfortunately, as he and the army have to enlist all able bodied citizens between the ages of sixteen and thirty-two. Being pulled into the front lines, Astraea has to go back to a world that required her speed, dexterity, and knowledge of a range of weapons in order to prevent a crumbling society. Will she be able to rise to the occasion and submit to the battle, or will she defy those who have hurt her?
