The monarch reveals a terrifying secret: he's afflicted by a demonic curse from House Galen, feared across the four lands.

As José and the king's advisors scramble to find a cure, they're unexpectedly transported seven years into the past. José finds himself in his younger body, with memories of his future experiences intact. He's reunited with friends from his past, including Braelynn and Kaedin, two skilled healers.
