They are Chinese. They put importance to being patriotic more and it's been in their culture for a long time now. I'm not sure if you're new to Chinese novels but these kind of things are quite normal so expect racism on some novels if you're really new here.

Just when I think I'm starting to find some decent manga, I take a gamble and end up disappointed. This one had virtually no plot; it was essentially about a woman having a relationship with a younger man. Honestly, I don't understand why they made such a big deal about their age difference since she didn't appear that much older than him. What's more, she stayed with him despite his apparent abusive behavior, which again leaves me puzzled as to what the creators were aiming for here.

The artwork is also somewhat lacking compared to others. It's hard to describe, but the characters looked off. They seemed improperly proportioned. The use of black was overly dark, and the shading, when present, felt misplaced. Occasionally, the lighting just didn't seem right at all.
