Even though Gu Yunxi was created from the accumulation of the resentment of souls, there was not a bit of ruthlessness nor cruelty in his nature, only a desire to cultivate. Just as he achieved his human form, he was sent to reincarnate. Under the control of Heaven, he experienced life after life of suffering, dying a terrible death every single time. After thousands of reincarnations, thousands of terrible deaths, he finally accumulated enough power to escape from the Laws of Heaven. He swore to get revenge on this blind Heaven’s Law that’s unable to differentiate good from evil.

So what if it’s the Heavens? He will stir up the rights and wrong, the good and evil!

You want me to accept this life and die, but I just won’t! I want to live, to rebel against the heavens, to reverse this joke of a destiny!

Actually, it's not so bad for me; in fact, I find it rather enjoyable. The male lead's possessiveness is quite appealing, and the protagonist doesn't mind it because they reciprocate the love deeply.

The pacing of the story might be rapid, as the main character (ML) falls for the protagonist (MC) almost immediately upon meeting. Personally, I find this appealing because I prefer a straightforward narrative without excessive details. Although it's fast-paced, the storytelling effectively conveys the plot, making it enjoyable for those who appreciate an intense, possessive, yet caring ML with a slightly dark side, accompanied by a strong, softhearted shou. If you're into that kind of dynamic, be prepared for an engaging read.

While this novel may appeal to readers who enjoy fast-paced reincarnation stories, those who have ventured through numerous novels with similar plots, writing styles, and character dynamics might find it rather unengaging if they've experienced around a dozen or more of these types. The repetitiveness could lead to boredom for some.

The novel is indeed quite commendable, but I had hoped for a more focused story where the main characters' relationship was their primary focus, without involving their past conquests or complicated backgrounds. The male protagonist's sexual prowess and previous relationships create an uneasy vibe, particularly with his ex-wife, child, and ex-lover. Although the plot offers engaging arcs, there are occasional inconsistencies that seem to serve solely to push the main characters together romantically. The sexual content is rather intense and includes elements of sadomasochism, making it a heavy read. It's definitely not for the faint of heart.

After completing Arc 3, the main character can be described as a highly vulnerable yet passionate individual who has endured immense trauma, such as physical abuse, family loss, rape, and even attempted suicide. However, their love for the male lead is so strong that they forgive and accept him wholeheartedly if he shows affection, even through a simple kiss. The male lead, on the other hand, is portrayed as an almost irresistible force, driven by his attraction to the main character. Overall, the novel revolves around the intertwined desires of two sexually charged characters.

I am assigning a 5-star rating here because I believe the book doesn't deserve a low score simply due to comparisons to "Quickly Wear The Face of a Devil." Sometimes, people need to be more lenient. It's true that it might not live up to the same level as QWTFoD, but that's only because we're comparing it to an exceptional work.

"It's great. Qwtftd has a more uplifting tone compared to the darker and sadder 'Quickly ware the face of the devil,' providing a lighter reading experience. Although there's a touch of sadness for supporting characters, the main protagonist has a happily-ever-after. Overall, it's an enjoyable read."

I've just begun reading Chapter 99, the early stages of Arc 4, and I'm utterly frustrated. Up until now, the story was engaging, but it has taken a sudden, unsettling turn. The author seems to be resorting to cheap tactics to sow confusion between the main characters, creating unnecessary complications solely to prolong the arc. This manipulation is pushing my buttons so much that I couldn't help but pause mid-chapter to express my dissatisfaction. Frankly, I've been eagerly looking for a novel like "The Face of the Devil," but this goes beyond what I can tolerate.

The translator deserves credit for their effort, but oh my, this was an unpleasant read. In the prologue, the main character (MC) had a clear objective and purpose, despite his overpowered nature, which could have been entertaining. However, the introduction of the male lead (ML) changed everything.

ML forcefully imposed himself on MC to a point where the sexual encounters were violently abusive. It's not consensual sex; it's assault. The power dynamic was utterly disturbing. The narrative does not improve – ML is portrayed as a psychopath, sex addict, and even a rapist due to his paranoia and insecurity about losing MC. It made me extremely uncomfortable.

Worse still, MC inexplicably developed feelings for ML, despite the negative portrayal of ML aside from his physical appearance. The story focuses on how MC endures ML's torture, altering his body to cope, and sacrificing his career and personal life to cater to ML's whims. He even gets a tattoo without consent.

This novel, marketed as a romance, felt more like a horror or psychological thriller to me. After finishing the first arc, I couldn't continue due to concerns for my mental well-being. I held onto a glimmer of hope for a resolution, but alas, it seemed to worsen even in death. I'm not willing to explore further from this harrowing start.

The treatment of the secondary characters is equally disturbing, making it a cautionary tale. If you're still curious, proceed at your own risk. I, for one, am done with this book.
