Idk man. I saw some comments raving about this novel so I gave it a chance. 50+ chapters in, I can’t continue. Compared to other magic / magus/magic novels this MC seems dense and edgy with a lot of plot convenience. Also, never really liked MC’s shouting out their spells to cast them.
Unless someone wishes to claim that this novel improves by a whole lot, (which doesn’t seem to be the case gauging off of the more critical reviews,) I’m dropping this novel.
First off, if you're a yaoi fan and you're looking for something sweet to read, I do recommend this.
But if you're actually looking for a story with a good plotline, I might still recommend it, aside from the one little problem I had with the story.
The whole first chapter felt rushed; if you asked me to rate it based on the first chapters, I would have given it a lower score. But since I'm rating it as a whole, I should tell you that it's really not that bad. I actually really liked the storyline.
It would have gotten a 10 if the beginning wasn't so rushed. Because really, I loved the plotline about Okakaneko Toshinori and his mother and father, and the reason why he is the way he is. It could have been over-dramatic, but it wasn't—it was played out perfectly.
Also, as a yaoi fan, it did very well in that department. If you're looking for a sweet romance, this would be good to read.
Art 8/10
The art was pretty nice and had more detail than I initially expected. (Yeah, I'm talking about the naughty scenes.)
Characters: 10/10
I'm going to have to give it a 10 because of Okakaneko Toshinori. His character was hurt yet slightly cunning, but at the same time, he looked like he was just a lonely kid that's been wronged by the world.
Enjoyment: 8/10
As I said, the beginning being a bit rushed may persuade you to judge the manga negatively, but it really does get better as it progresses.
Overall 8/10
I really think it is a good manga if you just want a little yaoi to pass the time.
