The storm raged, lightning crackling across the blackened sky, a reflection of the chaos that had consumed Raka’s life. He had been an ordinary man in Indonesia, living a mundane existence. Trapped in the daily grind, his world was small, limited to his job, his home, and the occasional trip to the bustling streets of Jakarta. He wasn’t a saint, but he hadn’t been particularly cruel either. Raka had always believed in survival above all else. Yet, on the day he died, there was no glory, no sacrifice—just a meaningless accident on the rain-slicked streets.

One moment, Raka was fighting for breath, blood pooling around him as the screech of tires and the flash of headlights blurred in his fading vision. The next, he awoke in darkness, dampness pressing in on him from all sides. He couldn’t breathe, couldn’t scream, couldn’t move as he struggled to comprehend where he was. His human instincts, honed by years of living in the world of men, screamed at him that something was terribly wrong.

And then it hit him.

His legs—no, not legs—hundreds of tiny appendages thrashed in panic. His body was elongated, segmented, covered in a hard, chitinous shell. Raka had been reborn, but not as a man. He had reincarnated as something grotesque—a centipede, crawling in the dirt beneath the earth.

The ground trembled as Raka, now a minuscule centipede, was yanked out of the earth by enormous human hands.
