Rebirth: I Follow My Heart

Synopsis:
In my previous life, I was stunning and aloof, with a graceful, enchanting figure.
In this life, my looks are ordinary and my body short and plump.
In my past life, I wore luxurious clothes, ate exquisite food, rode in fancy cars, and lived in villas.
In this life, I wear coarse garments, eat simple fare, ride a bicycle, and live in a cramped, single-story house.
All of this, I can accept with indifference.
What I don’t understand is this: since Heaven has granted me a chance to be reborn, why didn’t it erase the memories of my previous life? Carrying the obsessions of that past life, how am I supposed to adapt to this one? Can a heart long imprisoned ever open again?
There is the companionship of family, the circle of friends, and those tangled threads of affection that cannot be cut nor straightened. Am I the one disrupting their lives, or are they the ones stirring my heart?
I want to be a bystander in life, yet I’m entangled again and again in the trivial matters of the mortal world. Can I truly remain untouched and alone?

With a loud bang, a bucket of water was unceremoniously slammed onto my desk. Water splashed everywhere; not a single textbook was spared.
I lifted my head coldly and met the provocative gaze of the “class beauty.”
“What? Not satisfied? You’re the fattest in the class. For this kind of heavy work, if you don’t do it, who will? Besides, it’ll help you lose weight!”
The moment she finished speaking, snickers erupted around us.
I arched a brow and slowly stood up, casually loosening my wrists.
Her affected voice rang out again, “What? Are you going to hit me? I’m so scared! Though with your weight, you could probably crush me to death just by sitting on me.”
Her words successfully triggered a roar of laughter from the class.
Glancing at her smug expression, without the slightest warning, I lifted the bucket and poured the water straight over her head.
In an instant, screams and gasps filled the room. Chaos erupted around me.
Ignoring everyone, I tossed the empty bucket to the floor. With a sharp crack, the plastic shattered beneath my foot.
