By the way, I've heard that this novel is quite extensive. I am grateful for the translators' efforts, and if my reading journey with translated novels continues into old age, so be it. Ning Shu definitely deserves my unwavering support.
The narrative effectively
What sets this apart is the absence of the typical male lead following the female lead (FL) across her reincarnations, aside from the occasional mention of "Uncle." The minimal romantic elements are both surprising and refreshing, as the author effectively portrays the stark contrast in the MC's treatment based on her appearance. Watching her thrive in her "princess" persona compared to when she's plain or unattractive is incredibly satisfying.
Additionally, the MC's ability to succeed independently without a romantic partner is commendable. The pacing of her "jobs" feels authentic – once completed, it's time to move on. And if the job was unsatisfactory, there's no lingering on side quests; life isn't an MMO after all.
While the story leans more towards a female audience due to its critique of men, amidst the abundance of male-centric narratives, this tale stands out as a rare gem. The portrayal of strong female characters might be off-putting for some (the slapstick humor arc wasn't my favorite), but overall, I consider this a triumph.
Edit: It's interesting to see people finally giving it a one-star rating. True, I wished for the protagonist to grow stronger, but unfortunately, that didn't happen. Additionally, the transitions between arcs were abrupt, which left me unimpressed.
One aspect I appreciate is the absence of a love interest (ML) so far, which keeps the focus on her personal growth without unnecessary romantic subplots. The MC effectively uses her resources, even when playing supporting roles and adhering to the rules of different planes, making for compelling storytelling.
The critique of clichés and the impact of other characters' storylines is an enjoyable read. As someone who primarily reads for entertainment, I don't delve deep into underlying themes or plot intricacies, but I can confirm that the exaggerated clichés serve a purpose, which is later revealed through the system.
The plot may be slow-paced, but it's worth persevering through the first arc, as opinions may vary. My favorite part was the arc where the MC took on a unique task and became a female lead, thanks to her brilliant strategy in avoiding a rape situation, which was both hilarious and satisfying.
Overall, I recommend giving the novel a chance, especially for those who enjoy character-driven stories with a touch of humor. It may not be for everyone, but there's plenty to appreciate for those who appreciate a well-rounded plot and engaging characters.
1. **Positive Points:** The storyline is solid with decent character progression. The logic is reasonable, and while there are a few plot holes, the author attempts to address them. The narrative shift allows for a focus on character growth rather than just action, which adds depth. The protagonist has evolved into a revered figure, though she remains relatively weak compared to other specialists.
2. **Negative Points:** Characters occasionally display illogical behavior without clear motivation. The transitions between storylines can feel forced, which may detract from the reading experience if the reader is too critical.
3. **Recommendation:** If you've enjoyed reincarnation, alternate world, or second chance stories, this novel will resonate well, as it often serves as a reality check for characters from those genres. This extra layer might enhance your enjoyment.
Overall, the story has its strengths and weaknesses, but if you're familiar with the mentioned themes, it could be a worthwhile read. Keep in mind that some aspects might be more appealing to fans of those specific types of narratives.
Ning Shu appears to be a constant source of chaos and her role in the story seems quite limited, mostly due to her incompetence and reliance on others. As a "Pig Teammate," she frequently disrupts the School Doctor's tasks and lacks any notable talents. Despite claiming to have Taekwondo skills, she is easily taken advantage of and only occasionally manages to defend herself.
Additionally, her shooting abilities are abysmal. It's hard to accept that someone with minimal proficiency can justify owning a gun, especially considering her struggles to hit targets even after extensive practice at the shooting range. Her decision to rely on a gun for protection after her martial arts skills seems illogical.
Overall, I rate the story and translation two stars. My opinion might be biased since I read the first arc late at night, but it didn't impress me much. I'm hoping the upcoming arc will improve the narrative and justify its high ratings.
