Of the Night follows Astra, a young man born in the harsh outskirts of a vast magical world, who awakens a rare and dangerous form of magic—Star Magic. Tied to the Stars, this dark power grants him control over shadows and the night sky. As Astra learns to harness his abilities, he uncovers his bloodline’s connection to ancient gods and an overwhelming force that demands both mastery and sacrifice.
The more Astra delves into his power, the more he risks losing himself to its darkness. With enemies around every corner, including powerful factions who seek to control or destroy him, Astra must decide how far he is willing to go to achieve his ambitions. Of the Night is a tale of magic, ambition, and the struggle between light and dark as Astra fights to master the power of the stars without losing his soul.

This novel went from amazing, to mediocre, to utter trash. It's actually one of the few novels that I've ever seen do that. The first chunk of the novel was fun, as it was all about him being a prodigal and spending as much money as he could, getting into zany situations and what not. Def a fun read.THEN, the author decided to let him travel the universe... I mean, seriously? This is a novel about being a prodigal. Even with a system, it was pretty much set in a semi-realistic setting. After leaving earth, the novel began turning into another cliche cultivation novel, with the MC fighting and killing people, which he had NEVER done before. Definitely a mediocre read.FINALLY, it turns into trash. Later on, I started to notice that the names of newly appearing characters sounded somewhat familiar.Mr. Gate - A pirate with a big "white beard" who constantly asks people if they want to become his "sons".Mihawk - A gloomy but incredible swordsman.King P. Ace -... I'm just going to write the description straight out of the novel -- 'This was a young man who was about twenty years old. He had cute freckles on his face and jet black hair that hung down past his ears. He wore a strand of red prayer beads around his neck and a brown cowboy hat on his head.' --.... Seriously?...Oh, also.... Main character's new ability - Second Gear. His next new abillity? - Third Gear..... What I'm trying to say is that this novel, thousands of pages into it, has suddenly turned into One Piece fanfic! What was the author thinking??? Did his head get caught in a door one morning?? He suddenly decided... "Meh.. I've written around 600 chapters for this original novel... but why don't I shake things up and just start flooding it with One Piece characters!!!"...I honestly don't know what he was thinking. He straight up plagiarized this characters, even parts of their names, and shoved them into a novel that's suppose to be about a prodigal. It smells of desperation from an author who just couldn't think up anything new. Please don't let the beginning portion of this novel fool you. It's actually more upsetting to find a novel that's good for a time, only to crumble into trash more than half way through. It makes you feel as though you've been cheated somehow by wasting time on it.Oh, and translation quality got a lower score due to constant careless mistakes, such as constantly calling people by other character's names, missing or wrong words, etc etc. Mistakes that would have easily been caught by a simple proof read before uploading.0 0 Reply

Story quality in the beginning is a bit iffy. It also feels lacking in direction, but it improves a lot later.Evil heartless MC, dark elements, some elements are especially morbid but not needlessly. As for the 5 stars, well I personally liked the quality and vibes it gives towards the end of volume 1. Of course some things could have been done better but whatever.Might not be for everyone but you never know, so give it a try.0 0 Reply

love this. I cannot believe I actually liked reading this as a male. I usually read romantic stories but this was new and something great. I really hope the author is able to write more on this. Its great thought, if really is.0 0 Reply

I went to the Philippines, and I saw a huge gap between the rich and the poor. I have to say, the huge is unimaginable. I think this novel is really good in describing the life of poor people there. Their desperation, anger, etc. I think this is one of the best realistic fiction I read in webnovel.0 0 Reply

This novel is really good so far! I love the anti-hero MC and his personality is exactly what I want!Read to chapter 23, that's where it really starts to get good and the MC begins showing his 400iq and cold personality to others and manipulated people. This book is definitely worth a read if you're into a smart MC and want to get away from those MCs who are constantly crying0 0 Reply

Amazing opening chapter! I had literal goosebumps. I would prefer the use of past tense and small improvements that I saw others commented on. I love the storyline so far! Keep up the hard work!0 0 Reply

"Nothing really, I just wished to see what a weak Minor fable such as yourself could ever hope to choose as a warrior, oh it seems you have managed to attract an ugly rank 3?"0 0 Reply
