    Spoiler.
By chapter 224 he already f...ed like eight or nine women... and another one being tagged.. there's still about 100 chapters left.. honestly this gigolo, womanizer MC destroys the novel, he teases women and f..cs them more and more often. He is a hypocrite as well when it comes to murder and stuff, sigh.

The pacing is also all over the place. Almost half of the novel is some politics with martial arts then we had this artifical/virtual realm where young elites from all over the world were teleported to, which would be ok if it was only this, but now, suddenly some magic, powerful heaven breaking techniques that some xianxia don't have, formations, devils (?), immortality, changing face, changing gender, changing bodies..!!! MC battling thousands of martial artists/soldiers with his pew pew godly fire blast!! And that WTH plot twist with MC's father. This novel ridiculousness spiraled out of hand much faster and with a much bigger bang than Human Emperor. MC has a cheat that can teleport him between places and stay undetected, he's already kind of god that can assasasinate someone or make him a criminal by putting proof in his mansion or something. The martial artist association in empire or the shadow guard became pretty irrelevant and forgotten.

Better to read The Human Emperor or Black iron's Glory. They're not perfect but i liked them much more than this My Wife.

A few positive things about this novel:

    1. The translator exists. Also, the translation is pretty good.
    2. The characters have their own motivations and aren't made of cardboard.
    3. This novel has better plot than most other translated novels on the site.

I can 100% recommend this novel (or at least the first 20 chapters) based on these three points alone.

the fact that it wasnt necessary to constantly challange the MCs actions, and that out of the 4 developed characters in the story so far, all of them are independant, unpredictable and intelligent so far, is justification enough that this novel is better than nearly everything in the past month. it also has an actual translator.

first 20 chapters, has comedy elements, scheming, politics, no action as of yet, the mc isnt ur japanese haram mc, system doesnt seem overly OP, refreshingly every chapter isnt about what level people are or cultivation info

    fingers crossed, pretty good,
kind of similar to martial kings retired life, dont know if it will stay consistent however

Wow, one of the better novels in all of WN most recent picks. It's a 'Transmigrated with a System' story but the focus on the system is very minor, so far I think there's been less than 200 words regarding the system. The type of system is also one that's entirely hands off, allowing the MC to actually have a life and further the plot without referring to it every three paragraphs.

As for the MC, we finally get an intelligent, down to earth character that actually thinks before he acts rather than arrogantly throwing his ill-gotten power around and stomping on everyone. The MC plays the part of a wastrel third son of the powerful prime minister but does it in such a way that the readers dont just hate his guts and want to punch him in the face.

As for the side characters, they actually show some depth and ambiguity. His father is intelligent, highly capable and kind hearted, but he purposefully fosters an image as a cold hearted and greedy official so as to not threaten the emperor and bring trouble on his clan. So much different than those of similar stories that will already be planning rebellion within the first 5 chapters rather than just moderating their actions.

The Emperor is appropriately mysterious, being more than the arrogant, almighty figure we see in these novels. Even 39 chapters in I still cant say how much he knows, or how he really feels towards the MC and his dad.

The female lead isnt the Mary Sue type I was expecting either. Yes she's a talented Martial artist and a competent general despite her young age, but those can all be expected given that her father is a great general and raised her in that manner. Despite this, she also shows some flaws and a believable lack of competence when she tries to deal with the city guard the same way as with soldiers on the battlefield. Also rather than the author dancing around the issue and having both her and the MC be ignorant of the others feelings, they both quickly realize that neither want to marry the other and actually talk things out before agreeing to somewhat work together on the matter.

All in all, these first 39 chapters have been beyond excellent and I hope it keeps that way after the story is picked up.
