“What… what have you done?” she whispered, her voice barely audible.
Damien released her hand and stepped back, his expression grim. “The blood bond is complete. You’ll find that running from me will no longer be an option.”
Her eyes widened as the realization sank in. The bond wasn’t just a physical restraint; it was something far deeper, more insidious.
She clenched her fists, trembling with rage. “You had no right—”
“I had every right,” he interrupted, his voice sharp. “You’re mine to protect now, whether you like it or not.”
Liana opened her mouth to argue, but a sudden ache in her chest silenced her. It wasn’t pain, exactly, but an unsettling emptiness that only seemed to ease when her eyes met Damien’s.
“What… what is this?” she asked, her voice shaking.
“The bond,” Damien said simply. “It ties us together. The further you stray from me, the stronger it pulls you back. And the more you fight it, the more you’ll crave my presence.”
Her knees buckled, and she sank back into the chair, her mind racing. The thought of craving Damien, of needing him, made her stomach churn.
“You’re a monster,” she said, her voice barely above a whisper.
Damien’s expression hardened. “You can hate me all you want, Liana. But you’ll stay alive. That’s all that matters.”
