The synopsis is amazing but the actually story is really bad. Lot of things doesn't make sense and the author is constantly contradicting himself. It's like he's taking the readers for idiots. The MC is really bad. I do not recommend at all...
Unfortunately, the hero of justice is a saint who thinks he is an angel who mourns the death of a girl whom he does not know. Even her tribe, who lived with them for many years, did not care about her death. This hero is just a few minutes of grief for her. disgusting
The clan he built and the characters I cared about just died like that because of his stupid decision haaaah and then the cliche where there are stronger than him during his heyday it would still be interesting even without those stupid cultivation cliches but no, the author decided that the omnipotent dad is not so omnipotent but just an arrogant senile old man Honestly, the thing that draws people to read this novel is the fluffy scene(barely) and the character development sadly the novel turned into I'm the strongest but there are stronger out there so I will head out to get stronger again and there are mysterious characters which are not so mysterious at all and aren't even interesting at all and lastly the title should be changed he wasn't omnipotent at all he was incompetent honestly.
In the era of system and VR (In WN), It’s rare to stumble upon books that have something fresh to offer with a new plot. Secret Society is a novel that focuses on crime, thriller and mystery with comedy and romance as side dishes. *Cough* I have read it while it was still in beta form but reading it in WN gives a different emotion. So, here is a thorough review from what I have read and what you can expect. Writing Quality: It won't be a lie if I say, I am jelly jelly of the author for having a strong and mesmerizing writing style. In every chapter of Secret society (SecSy), you can see the dedication and effort put into them. A solid 5/5.Stability of updates: 1 chapter a day at the very least. I mean as long as the author doesn’t slack off, We can expect a nice update rate, muhahahaha.Story Development: Ayo, do you even need to ask? Up to where I have read, and of course from what I know, the story is going to get only better. Character Design: Both of the MCs, Xavier and Eulene(Yue Lin) are well-designed characters. For me, Yue Lin is relatable character at some point, *cough*, but of course, she is so much better. You will grow to love every character, even if they appear for a bit.World Background: This is a steampunk novel, aka, Victorian Setting. So, the dressing, food, lifestyle, education, rules and such shows resemblance to that period. For me, it was first time trying out a novel of this genre, and I must say, I am SUPER GLAD that I decided to read it.Cover: Welp, I have no qualms about it. I love it! Conclusion: Thank you for reading my rant without getting bored. So, if you decided to read till here, why don't you give this a read? Who knows what awaits you. *wink wink*
Read up to 800+ chapter. Story started off very interesting. MC opening dungeon shop with real monster he captured from different world that he could visit. As time goes on he gain more subordinate and his shop became more famous. At least until chapter 500+.After that the story seems to slow down massively. One of the story arc took around 100 chapter which solely focus on 1 battlefield being described by multiple character. It felt too padded. One of my issue with this novel is the writing on the action portion. Author done a good job writing about the business part but the action part is lacking. There is a severe lack of tension during the fight especially in the later part of the novel. I don't know why author felt it was necessary to insert jokes during the fight, multiple times, in almost every fighting part of the novel. It is really out of place, ruin the tension and break the immersion during reading. My last problem is with the characters, especially the MC. He really doesn't have much development even after so long. There is event where he seemed to experience character growth, and then he returned to how he is before. After some time the "growth event" occur again, and he still the same. This happen at least 3 times and changes are barely noticeable. The same can be said for his subordinate, they have no character development at all. The one with most development in character and story seemed to be his customer.Overall the story started off good until around chapter 500. It did not turn bad, just dull and boring.
