Hello, I love this story, and seeing I had a book review assignment for my freshman class, I decided to write a review on this. I also decided it was also fitting to put my review here seeing as I already wrote one. So, here it is: (Please don't mind my writing skills, still an Hschool student.) The first work of the author, Arkinslize, The Oracle Paths is a fantastic apocalyptic science fiction story. Currently, at 295 chapters, The Oracle Paths has a diverse cast of characters and world-building the likes of which I have yet to see before. World building may be an understatement considering the story is based around multiple universes. The main character of the tale, Jake is an average man who works at a VR retail shop in the year 2106. Orphaned at a young age, Jake goes about his days with repetitiveness until something drastically changes. The story has just the right pace and slows down a bit here and there for the sake of constructing the giant universe. The novel rarely lingers on plot points to the point of excruciation like many novels tend to do. The character building is quite intense and connects you to the characters in many different ways. I have loved some characters and hated some, but I can appreciate the way Arkinslize has built them, all the same. Each character is intricately built to fit each character archetype. A character, Tim, for example, is a frail child that I thought on multiple occasions would be removed considering the apocalypse genre, yet he has found his own way to stay that doesn’t seem like plot armor, which is rare. Another character seemed an ally at first but with the ‘cruel’ actions they committed, the main character showed his moral boundaries which helped with the character progression of the ‘ally’ and the MC. Many people on the site that I read this on complained about the pace of the novel. While I can admit that pace can be slower than many novels of the same type, you have to realize that in exchange for a somewhat slower pace, the world-building is better than any form of media I’ve ever seen. I feel connected to not only the characters but the entire world itself, this novel does better than any giving you ways to visualize the story as it goes on. This unique novel is a construction of science fiction, wuxia/xianxia, and system story types. The unique construction of these ideas may seem an unlikely one, but a very well put together piece nonetheless. If you are a fan of any of these types of stories or just good world-building in general, I strongly recommend this novel to you.
I'll tell you a secret - the story has one big problem - it's the speed of writing. Rather, if what I heard is true, then the problem is not the speed of writing, but the speed of the spread. The reason, as I also heard, is ****** - the author has a contract with the publisher that publishes a manga that he can not lay out the chapters as before, until the manga catches up with the novel. However, the novel is simply gorgeous.
this is a good read. the mc is strong and smart. even if he is a cliche good protagonist iits till good . he know his own weakness and strength other characters gets a chance to shine. its not just about a mc showing his strength
If not for my persistence stalking the horror section I surely will miss this hidden gem. The story is good, the author really have a way with words, the description of what happening is really vivid I am glad I don't read this while eating. And this is good, really good, way better than the opening of all others z movie that I have watch and I have watch a ton. It is really unique in how it is all started from one tiny little hole (no pun intended) in the security (*cough* shoes) and all hell break loose.Take this solid 5* from me.
First of all, the synopsis is pretty much a big spoiler which tell us that the current Crown Prince Edward will betray MC (Elizabeth) later in the story. Considering his character, I would pretty much sure of that. There r many things that I dislike abt this story, i.e:● Edward is such a non-ML material. I can understand if he is so easily fallen in love with MC just bcoz of her looks n aura. But he is such a weak-minded person that even in his 20 yrs old he's still not ready to bear the burden to rule the kingdom. Not to mention he proclaimed that he loves MC but not refusing low queens in his harem.● Edward's mother (The Empress) is such an idiot empress. MC clearly felt ominous feelings towards her lady-in-waiting servants but she keeps insisting there's nothing wrong n doesn't care abt MC's intuition. She n Edward knows those girls background but still make them by MC's side?? There is no logic in this.Overall there is no personalities in each character except Edward the coward. My main point is, for me personally I think the story-plot is totally not my cup of tea. The way Edward n his mother behave really ticked me off, the way MC needs to bow down before other s.l.u.t.s (Stela n other women) due to the pressure of power really makes me mad, not to mention there is no faithfulness here. If Edward really is the ML then I've to say I hate it. He's gonna has his own harem n accepted it. MC also has no decisive character.I assumed the reason Edward is gonna betray MC later has to do with for his own kingdom's sake n due to women. I'm sure Stela the b***h will ruin their love anyway. So yea that's my personal opinion only. Feel free to give it a try if u want coz every readers have their own preference. Maybe this is the story for u. Thanks for ur hard work, though Author. Don't let this makes u feel down. ^^
