After class placements were decided, the school’s two infamous ‘problem youths’ not only shared the same class, but the same desk.

They’re clearly good at studies, but pretend to be slackers. Fakers from head to toe who just keep walking farther down the path of their performance.

Heard through the grapevine about the two big brothers who always fight over the last place in class.

Basically, this is a serious comedy. About the little matters of growing up.

Let me begin by mentioning that I read this a while ago, so some specifics might be fuzzy. Also, being around the same age as the characters when I read it, during my final high school days, might color my perspective slightly.

Most reviews are accurate. At its core, this story revolves around the classic high school experience, with a moderate pace (not instant love, but not painfully slow either). It's light and optimistic, excelling in capturing everyday humor and character dynamics. The plot, however, isn't particularly engaging; in fact, I find that simplicity refreshing, as it avoids the overly complicated love triangles and subplots often seen in high school romances that can feel detached from teenage reality. Instead, the straightforward nature of the narrative stands out, with perhaps the only unrealistic aspect being the main characters' exceptional intelligence and their tight-knit relationships.

A major plus for me was the portrayal of the main couple as intelligent, yet relatable teenagers who make mistakes, have meltdowns, and struggle with maturity. These imperfections are portrayed without annoyance, and conflicts are eventually resolved, making the characters well-rounded and growth-oriented.

If I were to critique, I'd say the sentimentality can become overwhelming at times, especially towards the end. The story has a heartwarming, coming-of-age vibe that can border on saccharine. However, I must admit that I thoroughly enjoyed the extra content, even shedding a tear during the poignant goodbye scene, reminiscent of a parent's bittersweet feelings as their child moves forward in life.

I read the entire thing in Chinese due to the excitement it generated among Chinese fans, and I wanted to understand the hype. After finishing, my initial thought was simply: "I'm getting old" (although I'm only 22, for anyone who wonders).

The language is straightforward, and there's a good dose of humor. The characters are likable, with charming interactions尽管我肯定他们的悲惨背景是从韩剧里照搬的(叹气)。配角,也就是他们的同学,也非常逗趣。然而,

Despite entering the novel fully aware it would be a high school romance, I wasn't quite prepared for the level of focus on things like winning inter-class sports competitions and acing the national exams for prestigious universities. There's also a cultural festival where the main characters perform a dance, believing their love will last forever.

While true love might indeed endure in shoujo manga or gay C-novels, I found myself rolling my eyes at their youthful idealism, struggling to suspend disbelief even in this 100+ page tale.

I think you'd enjoy this if you're still in high school, brimming with hope for the future, or perhaps a bit older, as long as you maintain a youthful spirit. However, since I don't fit either category, reading this felt akin to how I imagine my parents would react to High School Musical now. Even as I write this, I can almost hear myself tutting and muttering about "kids these days." So, fellow skeptics, take note.

Before embarking on this novel, please note: I discovered quite unexpectedly that chapters 29 and beyond are pay-to-read, which was disheartening. My previous experience with a similar ambush – being forced to pay for continued reading – left a sour taste. I made the initial payment, but then noticed the second charge was more than the first. When a third demand appeared, I decided against it, as the cost kept escalating. I wasn't sure how many more times they'd try to extract money (I had already spent $12 at that point), and there was no mention of the author receiving a portion of the proceeds. Since then, I've chosen to support with Kofi donations instead. It's a shame, as I genuinely appreciated the calming and authentic portrayal of school life in the story.

The novel was exceptional; I'm eagerly anticipating the return of the webcomic after its break. I hope they maintain the details from the book. While I didn't read the side stories, I believe they would have added value. If you're considering reading it, this is definitely a worthwhile choice. Although the start might be slow, it provides ample context about the main character's background. Unfortunately, the official translated version is behind a paywall on aggregator sites. I'd love for someone to translate those side stories. The ending feels incomplete as it doesn't cover life after graduation, so I'm relying on the side stories to fill in the blanks.

"Apologies for the earlier confusion - my mind must have been on autopilot. Despite initially assuming the transition was complete, let me share my review. This is pure comedy gold! I found myself laughing throughout and thoroughly enjoyed the entire tale. As someone who rarely delves into modern narratives, my expectations were low, but oh boy, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it. The rom-com aspect had me hooked from start to finish, and even the supporting characters were well-developed and added to the charm. The leads' constant banter and competitive personas provided non-stop entertainment. I'm grateful I stumbled upon this story by chance; it was an absolute delight."

The narrative truly justifies the time and effort put into Machine Translation (MTL). I am eagerly anticipating the fantastic translation from Chaleuria Team, as I suspect there are many details I might have overlooked. This tale revolves around two high school boys who become seatmates, skillfully pretending to be academically low-ranking, striving to remain at the bottom of their class hierarchy. They excel in their roles as comical fools, with the cold-hearted protagonist and his "I don't care" demeanor, and the charismatic, arrogant ML, who plays the fool for all to see.

What makes this story particularly engaging is how well their charades progress, eventually leading to a touching moment where they worry about each other's future despite their initial perceptions. The MC believes ML has no academic prospects, while ML secretly helps the MC by anonymously sending review materials. In turn, ML surprises MC with study materials left on his desk, creating an endearing exchange of support.

Both main characters have compelling reasons for their actions, reflecting the earnestness and sacrifices of adolescence. The supporting cast, including friends, family, and even rivals, are portrayed as supportive and often humorous, adding depth to the story without resorting to villainy. Instead, they embody the complexities of human relationships.

Reading this book is a delightful distraction during a period of waiting for a strong typhoon to pass. I sincerely hope the translator continues to deliver such a captivating and well-rounded translation.

"A delightful gem indeed! This heartwarming tale serves as a refreshing antidote to the intense conflicts often found in other novels. The protagonists, He Zhao and Xie Yu, are known as the 'Slacker Gods' - geniuses by reputation, yet secretly lazy and mischievous. Instead of striving for academic excellence, they cleverly strategize to maintain their low rankings and avoid trouble. Their hidden strength and camaraderie are revealed when they inadvertently end up in the same class, creating hilarious and touching moments as they interact, including unexpected friendships that blossom.

As the story progresses, the author skillfully weaves a sense of unity and camaraderie among the class, turning even mundane situations into exciting adventures. One memorable scene features an epic game-based battle between their class and another, where even the class' non-gaming star becomes motivated to defend their honor. The amusing team names, particularly those of He Zhao and Xie Yu, add to the comedic goldmine.

If you're in search of laughter, light-heartedness, and a touch of anticipation, this story is an excellent choice!"

Alright, well... This marks my first-ever review, surprisingly for a slice-of-life novel. The appeal lies in its fluffiness, wholesomeness, and the relatability of the high school setting. Let me tell you, once you endure the initial pacing and reach the confession scene, it's all worth it. The author's vivid descriptions can be a bit overwhelming at times, but that's where the challenge lies – it demands patience and genuine investment in the characters. If you're one who appreciates such sensory detail, perhaps you should reconsider reading this... otherwise, dive right in!

On the other hand, I believe the story isn't overly difficult to engage with. The protagonists' charm is off the charts – a cool loner and a shamelessly charismatic character – and their interactions with each other and the supporting cast create a vibrant tapestry. Their growth and the development of their relationship are heartwarming and therapeutic, almost like balm for the soul.

I must confess, I am utterly smitten with these characters.
