Jahn awoke, the warm light of dawn setting the attic's dust aflame. He sneezed, shook his aching head. He looked around him, at the dusty attic, with its ancient wardrobe looming foreboding in the corner. He remembered. Jahn swore to himself. How could he have messed this up so badly? He was so incapable that panic could overtake him at any moment. His failure filled him with despair. Stalking over to the creaky bed in the corner, he wrapped a bandage around his head, and looked out into the warmth of the day. How could I miss my one chance to break free from insignificance, to be someone.

He needed to remain focused, after all he had a goal and mission to achieve. However, despite her condition, it appeared she was as bright and brilliant as the rumours said and he felt it would not be easy to broach the topic let alone convince her to agree.

This author infodumps for like 60% of the story, and when he’s not he’s wasting chapters on something frivolous. Secondly, the premise was very enjoyable but the execution is way off. There’s zero buildup. Finally, the author had the nerve to refer to black people as literal slaves (that is the exact word the translator used) who fawned over those with yellow skin, and the paleryou were the higher your status. That turned me off completely. I liked it enough to read up to that point despite the many flaws of this author, but the blatant racism is a no go.

I think this book showcases a scene that particularly intruiges me, especially the experiment (I LOVE EXPERIMENTS as science geek myself). So it already got me in a hook! I would like the fellow readers to take a glance on this book and read the chapters. I highly recommend this. It started good hopefully the consistency continues. There were some inconsistencies with grammar and sentence structure but are just minimal. Keep it up!
