The plot is all over the place. Based on the synopsis, I bought it because it sounded intriguing and maybe a bit dark, but instead, it’s just random bits of backstory thrown in, followed by "Surprise! That was the reason!" only for it to be revealed as "Surprise! That was a LIE!"—all interspersed with rape scenes between every single plot point. And so on.
It's hard to elaborate further without spoiling it, but it felt like the author was throwing things at the wall to see what would stick (if that saying makes sense here). Just yeah, not a great read. The art is okay, but even the little omake at the end had me cringing more than laughing because, wow, tastes really change as you grow up, huh. ^.^
The story is absurdly silly, the characters behave extraordinarily stupidly, and plot points emerge out of nowhere whenever it's convenient for them to do so. The art is decent, but it won't leave anyone awestruck.
Suna no Rasen is deeply flawed, and yet I relished every moment of reading it.
It's packed with every trope that screams lazy pandering, but it's endearing because of it. It's so unapologetic about its intentions that I can overlook things that would irritate me in a higher-quality work.
Is this good? Not even close.
Is it enjoyable? Absolutely, yes.
