The suspense builds relentlessly throughout the chapter.  The king's growing realization that he's unleashed an uncontrollable force, and the subtle hints of the hero's manipulation, create a palpable sense of unease and dread.  The ending, with the hero departing the royal court, leaves a lingering chill and a powerful sense of anticipation for the catastrophic consequences to come.  This is a darkly brilliant start to a webnovel that promises a thrilling and morally complex story.
