Blood and Shadows

I'm actually enjoying this very much. For this type of novel, its done well enough. And I recommend people to read it! Positives:This novel takes care of its numbers well such as troops, resources, system stats. Its a kingdom building story with a game like system. Although its a game type system, its actually real life. The power ups and gradual improvements aren't bad. The game like events for the billions of players are pretty entertaining. MC's cheat is not that strong, in fact his strong point is the location of his territory which synergies's with his talent alone! There are no harems so far (Ch 329), in fact no relationships of any kind at all so far. But this is good since its just been 3 months in the world so he still needs to keep building instead of being distracted by unhelpful love drama lol. His character is to be reasonable, rational in risks vs rewards, attempts to be self sufficient in the desert, kind and fair to his people as normal earthling, not a perfect human since he forgets some things sometimes or needs other citizens to fulfill tasks he can't.Negatives: The mentality of players is weird, since they don't treat natives like living beings or even care properly about their lives. Almost crazy tbh.For MC's progress there are some well reasoned situations, however there are also a bit of blatant plot device based situations which might irk some people lol. Too much luck of course makes it unbelievable and can turn people off, but its an okay amount and not too intense imo. Another thing is that there are too much high level maps/dungeons around his territory that he can't touch yet, essentially made as a set up for the future. But this seems to be constantly happening. In recent (300th ish chapters) MC's growth has been slowed down, no idea why author still kept him at his level. He still hasn't found a reliable way to keep his agricultural area safe, not idea why author doesn't just build a wall and arrow/watch towers? There are of course times like that when common sense is missing or over used words like 'supremely' lol. All in all its defo worth reading. The small nit picks are easily ignorable when you look at the whole picture. You will enjoy the other aspects pretty well. Currently i've read till latest 329 ch and its great. Its not perfect if thats what you think, but better than most when it comes to kingdom building game like novels. I would rate it 4.4/5.

Dunno why people like it so much.Hoped for something like House of Horrors but no. Bleh.Translation is readable but subpar.The plot’s confusing. Badly flowing. Jumpy as heck. The protag is an ass. There was something about him being a doctor but it’s completely irrelevant after his rebirth. The author is not accepting of girls or lgbt.Girls are sexualized non-characters and I would’ve tolerated it but ITS MENTIONED SO OFTEN.Additionally a major part of his new identity  is a son-in-law being taken care of his wife’s family. They both hate each other, but I think it’s fair on the family’s part due to the nature of the marriage, what they did for him, and how he treats them back.TF is the marriage anyway??? Screw the subpar trashy f-ed romance. I can’t fu**ing get those parts of Chinese culture.

700+ chapters in, and the highly anticipated identity revealed never occured. Translation drop badly around ch 450+. I just continue reading the raws just for the single, identity reveal and hoping the romance between FMC and MC to blossom. The series got dragged out too much with the plot of "Kill the son, brought out the father, kill the father, brought out the ancestor". Literally everyone knew how powerful and op MC was, except the FMC. Not really worth it to read after chapter 400+, not worth it

The story is still at its infant stage, the characters are still developing. Unlike typical novel where mc starts to take chance or luck encounters of the novel's mc ,the mc is walking his own path. Though not much is introduced in the the initial chapters, the detailed development of mc power is shown.So, I am expecting more from future chapters. I will leave with 5 star for now. Looking fordward to future chapters.

Seems like another case of the ********** invasion but less dramatic.Know your place fools.No one can fight against the biggest book company in China.No one.Feelsbadman.Also stop rating so low because it makes the book look bad when it actually isn't.

/CONTINUATION UPDATE: 18-11-2024/Hi everyone, author here!After completing a few projects of mine and getting back into the groove of things, I can finally say that I'm taking back on this huge project! As some of you may know, it's no secret that writing over 130 000 words on a story can be particularly taxing, especially with a regular schedule and another job.But after letting time do its thing, I've regained what I felt I'd lost, which is passion. It's the reason why I left it alone for so long. I'd rather let it sit and stew than ruin the story and lose those invested in it.But what's in store now? Well, I've not been idling doing nothing. I've written other stories, matured and, more importantly, been acquiring a better, and frankly cleaner, writing style. This means I'm currently going over every chapter (re-writing some and fixing story plots in others), meaning you can expect a muuuuuuuch better version of the novel you already loved.This process should last about 15-20 days (Man, I was writing a lot), but don't expect new chapters to drop when it's done. One thing I learned is that it's better to accumulate a bank, which will be 15 chapters long. This'll ensure that no long hiatus happen again.And that's all I had to say today!
