The world is diverse and flourishing. Humanity has transformed, ushering in a new era of prosperity. While males and females still exist, the spectrum of human identity has broadened. With the introduction of alpha, omega, and beta designations, humanity has evolved even further. In this world, Dr. Andrew Knox, a renowned environmental researcher, thrives as a beta male. Being middle ground has made his life easier, and despite some wishing he were one way or the other, Andrew is content with who he is. He's not just content; he's thriving. He works at a world-renowned research facility where he makes friends easily, and his projects are always funded. He's even found someone he believes he could marry if things continue to go well. Additionally, the vacant house next to his apartment building is bought by a new neighbor—an attractive but cautious omega who relies on Andrew as a beta for help. Andrew couldn't be happier. He loves being a helper and cherishes when people depend on him. Overall, Andrew feels he has everything set. That is, until a research project with questionable data is thrown back at him, a project he has no recollection of working on. His reputation crumbles in an instant. Heartbroken, it isn't until Andrew wakes up chained to a wall that everything becomes clear. He becomes a test subject for one of the scientists he trusted—someone he never expected would harm him. The life he knew, where he was a respected researcher, is torn away from him. His identity and everything he's ever known are stolen by a deranged researcher he once trusted, perhaps even loved. He must relearn who he is, what he is, from scratch. Thankfully, he has one person in his corner. He just never expected to rely on someone whose shoulders were so small. This is an A/B/O story, and it will include tropes associated with this genre. I hope you enjoy it.
