I like how incompetent they reacted to seeing alarming movement from potential aliens. It's the classic feigned ignorance that plunges the world to a dire consequence.

Good start to a we novel. Im invested to see where the story goes from here. I like the characters and the power system. The plot seems like it will get more deeper as the world goes further in.
