I stopped reading because I couldn't stomach how the secondary character was portrayed. The author portrayed the general as despicable, but then seemed to lose control. How can one claim Fu Zhan was unqualified? Fu Zhan shouldered all the blame and suffered the consequences alone, while Wang Chen just left, becoming a monk and abandoning世俗 life. It's unjust to call Fu Zhan a scoundrel. It was Wang Chen who had doubts about their relationship, believing the arranged match would be better for his lover. Fu Zhan was willing to defy his family for love. I sincerely hope Fu Zhan finds a new love (ideally, with another man) who truly appreciates and supports him. And yes, it's relieving to see many readers, like myself, questioning Wang Chen's actions.

Initially, there was a semblance of struggle and growth in portraying family dynamics, but as time went on, these developments were overshadowed, making the story feel unengaging. Moreover, the relationship between the main character and the male lead lacked depth and spark.

Moreover, I didn't particularly enjoy the main character's (ML) portrayal; they come across as too hypocritical for my taste. Despite the intriguing plot, which features a zombie or fantasy setting, my continued reading has been solely due to boredom and the scarcity of appealing alternatives. However, the main character and the love interest are simply unlikable to me.
