The last war, however, threw a wrench in these divine mechanics, causing the sacred artifact to falter. Desperate to preserve her dwindling species, the Empress of Astra devised a controversial solution: the "Summoning" of heroes from other dimensions to contribute their vital essence and fix the malfunction. The catch? The summoning is unpredictable, with a 50-50 chance of bringing forth either a hero or a villain, be it a child or the most heinous of criminals. In this realm, only demons or goddesses hold the power to end the lives of heroes, and as a deity herself, the goddess has never taken a life, even when it's a hero she's summoned against their will.
