Every home has its lights on at night, but if I’m the wick burning in the middle of it all, then honestly, it’s better if no one comes close to me at all.
These days, the slogan of “no marriage, no children” is getting louder and louder. Anyone who still believes in love is quickly labeled as someone with a “love brain,” the kind of person who loses all reason the moment feelings are involved. Marriage itself has started to look like some kind of terrifying beast—something people run from the moment it gets close.
But is getting married really that frightening?
People say children and grandchildren will find their own happiness in life. Well, if I don’t have any children or grandchildren, then I’ll just enjoy my own happiness instead.
“My body runs cold,” someone jokes. “If I had a baby, the poor thing would probably freeze to death. So no thanks—I’m not having one.”
And besides, there’s always a child somewhere in an orphanage waiting for a home. Becoming a mother without the pain of childbirth—that’s the real winning move.
Year after year, the birth rate keeps dropping. Among the younger generation, the desire to have children is almost nonexistent. So is it really that young people lack a sense of responsibility toward society?
Or is something else happening?
An era of fearing marriage and fearing childbirth has quietly arrived. Women are waking up to their own independence. They’re chasing their own goals, their own lives. The traditional advantages men once held in marriage… those seem to be shifting too.
