In the mighty Empire of Hanbarus, the glory days of magic are over. The war between Men and the Vylae was won long ago, and now the label of 'warlock' is a dirty word. Young warlock, Osric McKenna, is seeking the last remaining path to glory for those born with the gift of magic- a place in the Royal Sentinels.
For he and his friends to win their place, they must run the Gauntlet- a grueling race across a foreign land, facing the evils of Men and Vylae alike.
