Lured by limited-edition legendary loot, players have flooded into the virtual reality MMORPG ValorVale. Not that Cal cares. Wheelchair-bound by an incurable disease, he's playing just to experience walking again. Not even the glitch that has forced him to play as an Orc will stop him.
Armed with a hatchet, he grinds and levels up in his own little corner of Terrafaytum. Casting newly acquired Earth Craft, he helps a winged warrior moments from death escape from a tribe of bloodthirsty Werejaguars. With this, the gears of fate clunk into motion.
Cal becomes trapped in ValorVale, unable to exit the game. Looking for answers, he accepts a mission that will take him deep into Dresham, where an usurper sits atop the throne. Terrafaytum will be torn asunder if a hero doesn't rise. Problem is, it's chosen a level 5 Orc to be its saviour.
