Unintentionally chased

"Please address me with respect," he insisted. "Did you hear me?" I queried, wanting to confirm. "Are you slow to understand?" His eyebrows knitted together as he maintained eye contact. Determined not to call him sir, I replied, "I won't refer to you as such. I'm not your servant. And no, my intellect is not lacking." He quipped, "You seem to know only a fraction." As he leaned closer, a hint of a smirk played on his lips. "Be clear," I countered, avoiding his gaze. "I comprehend words by their full meaning." He drew nearer, whispering just above my ear, his warm breath tickling my earlobe. "Refuse, and this agreement ends." Lost in the depths of his captivating blue-green eyes, I felt a tug between two worlds. "I cannot let that happen," I thought. Days turned into weeks, weeks into months, and months into a year, yet one thing remained steadfast. The path my life had taken defied all expectations from those distant years.
