Very good novel, nothing really stood out as amazing, but the reason I liked it so much was because nothing stood out as being bad either (this is pretty rare, usually I find many things to criticize in a novel lol). The highlights of the novel are more subtle, doing the little things well so the novel flows smoothly. The best I've read so far in the "picking up attributes, xp, etc" genre. Mc is pretty op and does a good job of using his cheat and trying to stay out of trouble. I like his sinister style of doing things, using dirty tricks to win without caring about his image. The side characters are good and there isn't much cliche stuff. The world is pretty dark and the character interactions seem more realistic to me compared to most novels on here. I read up to ch276 before writing this.

Seshata has hit their groove early on in Humanity Online: Viren’s Refuge. Readers closely follow Erik Lieu in first person, present tense as he dives into the world’s first and greatest VRMMORPG. An elite gamer, his running narrative reveals him to be equal parts confident (bordering on arrogance) and vulnerable (humble enough to know when to laugh at himself). And readers will laugh! His self-aware, at times self-conscious, at times self-deprecating, cynicisms leave no one unscathed. His incisive wit (read: snark) dissects a well-planned world rich in detail, historical lore, and ripe with future potential. And not just gaming potential! The stakes are high in Viren’s Refuge with a sweetened pot provided by the games originator. And for Erik, making his way to the top is about more than just being the best — it’s personal, too. Action-packed cinematic sequences meld seamlessly with plot-turns and character exploits in chapters written so well they virtually read themselves aloud to you. This book is perfect for anyone who has ever sought the answer to - do video game Gods have a sense of humor? Or - what happens if the Chosen One loses his trousers? I can’t wait to find out, myself!

The story is completely unreadable, even mtl have better translation quality, at this point i’m even doubting if this novel is translated to a different language and not english because with this translation quality it’s like reading in a completely different language.I dare the translator to try to read it and tell me if he can understand anything written??, i very much doubt it.I’m not really sure if the story is good or not as the translation is unreadable.I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS, IT IS TERRIBLE.The translator needs to be fired.

This was a fun and light-hearted novel that doesn’t take itself too seriously. If you’re a fan of action, RPG elements, and an overpowered MC, well this could be the title for you. It hits all the sweet spots of current popular genres on this platform. With that being said, there are a lot of things that had me confused about this novel. For one it has xuanhuan elements which are Chinese in origin but the characters have either western or fantasy names and the author also used Japanese style of address (incorrectly!) in certain instances. Later on in the novel, loose western-elements are mixed in as well in a way that’s not extremely convincing. The setting, in general, is confusing and needs a bit more introducing and explaining. On top of this, the characters are not written in a very believable way, and I could not for the life of me imagine any of them as adults and they are one-dimensional to boot. The author has some odd choices of words and sentence structures which leads me to believe that English might not be his first language. Though in general, the book is still easy to understand.

The grammer is horrible. There is poor character development and the guy is so overpowered that he jumps to level 10 within ten minutes of starting the game
