From what I've heard it was not even that good, even quite bad some said, so I doubt I'm missing out on anything important - just a overhyped 3rd tier novel

It depends on your taste. For example I find shadow slave average at best and same goes for mc sunny. But it is number 1 novel on this site. There are far better novels which are much letter than top 50 novels some of which are at 500-600 rankings In the end it all comes down to your taste and perspective.

Chapter 412 is my last straw, why did he reveal that his martial can level up and that he has other martial soul even though the situation is very dangerous he shouldn't have done that, this is an extremely dumb move and will only being endless trouble (sigh)

I've tried to solider through these 39 chapters, but it's literally been hell. Heck I'd rather go through what the mc went through then to continue on with this bs. I don't expect the mc to hit his mom or even disrespect her, but there are boundaries that should be made especially with him being an adult. His real age is maybe in the thousands, but it's all wasted because he acts like an idiot doormat. Thousands of years and he has no backbone, it's the cliche mother suddenly becomes overpowered when she gets angry and the mc despite being a thousand year old sorcerer bends to her very whim. Like I said I don't want him to hit or disrespect her, but this is disappointing behavior from a literal THOUSAND year old SORCERER who waged war on a whole world/planet.
