Sinful Duty

I watch him carefully as he places the gun gently on the table. The room falls into a tense silence, each second stretching like an eternity. He steps forward, approaching me deliberately. He stands behind my chair, his strong arms wrapping around the armrest, effectively confining me. I breathe in his presence, absorbing his scent and warmth. "You must decide now, Lana," he whispers softly into my ear, his voice echoing in the quiet. His fingers brush against my knuckles before he retrieves my notebook, tossing it aside without ceremony. "I wasn't finished with that," I protest. He chuckles, the vibrations resonating through his chest. I turn to face him, my heart racing as I feel the tension mounting with every passing moment. "Focus, Lana," he redirects my gaze back to the table. "Continue living in fear and uncertainty, or take control and confront your past. Which path do you choose?" Pulse quickening, beads of sweat form on my back, and anxiety prickles my skin. The decision looms large, immediate and unavoidable. With a trembling hand, I reach out and make my selection.
