12 year old boy named Haru. Haru prided himself as a fast runner, and was the ace of the track and field team at his school, but when he wasn't fast enough to save his younger brother from getting run over, he lost all confidence and became reclusive, his father started drinking, and his mother was barely hanging on. 2 years later, the only friend that still talked with him, Jun, told him about the new virtual reality game that came out, Royal Road, where he could live a new life and become a hero. Jun asked(forced) Haru to come to his house and try it out in his capsule: and so the adventure begins.
