I Transmigrated as a Prison Guard and Suppressed the Princess is a story about Xiao Ran, someone who became a prison guard and got a cheat that allows him to get various rewards for imprisoning/executing criminals. I can't really say this novel is any good to be honest. It's another one of those novels with a weird synopsis that doesn't really tell you anything, the clickbait form of novels. Translation quality is meh. It's fairly decent compared to some other novels but it isn't that great overall. (4/5 stars)Story development is awful. So, we immediately are thrown into the middle of the story to prevent readers from forming any sort of attachment to the main character. The author only throws us some vague monologues about how the main character transmigrated/got his system. Now, this is basically a typical overpowered main character cultivation novel. He constantly fights super-weak enemies that he can easily one shot, yet somehow this takes multiple chapters. He gets so many rewards it's ridiculous. Aside from that, the main character imprisons the princess. She cultivated a evil technique and will occasionally flare up with evil symptoms. The only way to stop this (apparently) is for the main character to continuously punch her in the face. The first time it happened, it was somewhat amusing. Second time it happened I'm already bored. The fifth time it happened I realized the author was literally just copy and pasting what happened previously. A lot of people will say "author copy and pastes" to show how repetitious the plot is, but the author in this novel literally copy and pastes the same situation over and over again. Furthermore, no one questions why several plots to break into the prison and break someone out mysteriously fail. Not the prison, nor the people on the outside. Everyone just thinks they slipped and died or something. Anyway, super boring, bland, etc. (1/5 stars)Character design isn't great either. Main character is absolutely emotionless. The author pulled out every stop in order to prevent people from forming any sort of attachment with the main character. Aside from that, every character follows typical cultivation plot. An IQ of 60 is considered top-tier genius level where you are basically omniscient. Average IQ is about 10. Theres no character in this novel that is likeable, every character is as bland as the last. Theres nothing to keep you hooked either. (2/5 stars)World background is questionable. We have the land the main character is in, known for not letting any criminal escape from the prison. In forty chapters, theres already been MANY prison escapes that would've happened without the main character. Evil runs rampant in the land so much I wonder how the kingdom even functions. Aside from that, why even have a prison? This is a cultivation world where if the prison failed, there are now hundreds of powerful evil cultivators running rampant with a grudge towards your land. Just kill them. There is no merit to having a prison in the first place. (2/5 stars)Overall, zero thought was put into this novel. It's a mindless overpowered main character cultivation novel. Characters are bland and boring, story makes no sense, and world background is filled with a ridiculous amount of holes. I give this novel 2.8 stars out of 5.0 0 Reply

Maybe still my best novel out there.First, if u are a short-fused and short-minded person then don't read this. This is a very good novel if you can bear with all the flow. Imagine an eastern Game of Thrones with more details and story.Do not judge this as a series full of fillers. The moment you do that, your mind has degraded. This story is not about one person embarks in a journey. It's about how the MC and his group walk on life and solving all the problem they face. With a lot of hills and valleys.I repeat, it's not a story about a person. This is a story of a world. The characters design and character development is just godly. Only ATG, ED, and a couple of novel that did it this good. The world building? Harry potter can't even touch AC's feet. Then why not a full mark? Because it's not to the point where i am crazt for it. A series with full mark? Never gave it to any other than monogatari series.9/10 ma boy. Keep the good work dear translators.0 0 Reply

This novel is absolutely fantastic! It has everything I’ve been craving in a story. I’m a total hater of hero books, and this one completely gets rid of them. No redemption arcs, no team-building, no saving someone from a level 60 beast when you’re only level 30. Nope, this story is all about a selfish MC who’ll do anything to climb the power ladder. And I’m here for it! You don’t find books like this these days.0 0 Reply

Alright, this novel has one of my least favorite tropes. Nice-guy assassin. Those two tropes just don't work well together.First off, the main character. The best assassin from a fantasy world, can even kill Kings and Queens. Is almost caught on his very first job. He is supposedly a assassin but in reality hes just a vigilante. Side characters. Another review basically talks about this perfectly. All the characters are template characters. Cop who relies on intuition, girl whos a battle maniac, cute little sister, grumpy older brother, super-genius kid who can hack into anything. Plot & writing quality. First off, this novel definitely has a amateurish tinge to it, but seems somewhat refined. The plot, however, seems super forced and is rather boring. Gang members beat up the main character's brother, he beats them up. They come back, with more, because? (This is a world with martial artists, why are these guys so keen on killing themselves) Anyway, he beats them up, takes pity on them, once again because? He decides to kill all the gangs nearby because of some pity story the guy told him. Later, when a cop invited him to dinner a young master decided to beat him up. He beat them up instead, and now decided to destroy his entire company and family. Good ol' vigilantism. It just seems rather forced, especially that young master part. (Again, there are literally martial artists in this world, the young master doesn't have a single martial artist)Anyway, another gripe I have with this novel is "intuition". God it's annoying. A lot of novels go with this really forced way of advancing the plot. A random copy intuitively knows that the main character somehow committed the crime of killing gang members, so she invites him to dinner. A random battle-junky intuitively knows that the MC is the one who fought her before. (he was completely covered in black, no resemblance) Overall, a amateurish novel that is rather low quality in general.0 0 Reply
