17 year old highschool boy named Lyos Fugikawa is a transfer student at Kyoukai Academy, Lyos was born with an ESP (extrasensory perception) ability known as "See Spirits" which allows him to communicate and interact with spirits from the other side. Having this ability makes school life very difficult for him and sets him apart from his fellow classmates despite his desires to live a normal highschool life with schoolwork and friends and maybe even a girlfriend!
Lyos's want for a normal life is sent spiraling down when he begins to here rumors about the vengeful spirt known as "The Maiden in Black" a ghost of a schoolgirl that died on the premises 50 years ago and is said to haunt the old homeroom, upon investingating the rumors Lyos encounters the spirit and realizes she may not be as vengeful as the rumors say and he may have found exactly what his life has been missing all along......
