Claire Soberano, a 25-year-old mother, and her young son are currently on the run. Fleeing from her violent fiancé, Claire sought refuge in Long Beach by staying with her cousin, The Reid. Living in hiding, cherishing the safety of her family, Claire would go to great lengths to shield her son from harm. Initially, she believed she had found her soulmate in Eddie, hoping for a lifelong commitment. However, Eddie's true nature came to light after six years, leaving her heartbroken and fearful. The physical abuse inflicted on Claire, marked with tattoos from her injuries, forced her to confront the danger Eddie posed to her son. This realization shattered any trust she had in men, let alone the possibility of falling in love again. Enter Donovan Wolfe, the third eldest of the Wolfe brothers. When his siblings were away, Donovan took charge to maintain the family's stability. With a background in civil service as a Lieutenant, his scars spoke of his dedication. After a personal incident that led to his retirement, he yearned for the same love and companionship his brothers had found. Upon meeting Claire, Donovan found a gentle and caring woman who was not only an excellent cook, reminiscent of their mother, but also someone in desperate need of protection. The sight of her bruises and her cries for help stirred up memories of his own childhood struggles where he couldn't save someone. Determined not to repeat that failure, Donovan vowed to do everything in his power to keep Claire and her son safe and secure.

Am I reading a light novel or a web novel? 😅

Man I really want to continue reading but somehow I really dislike cringe MC who are very henpecked. Ive read 160 chapters and the MC is still being underwhelmed by both his enemies and FEMALE allies.

The system is nice but often times the plot goes 1. MC wants to get stronger -> 2. MC gets beaten to submission/guilt trip by either female allies or enemies -> 3. MC goes to an training arc -> 4. MC somehow miraculously defeats enemy after a heavy fight

Plus, the tone of the novel seems very similar to Japanese Light Novel characters. Its like Im reading a super ideal version of Kazuma from konosuba.

To those who have completed this novel. Please give me reasons to continue reading.

Yeah but that is just a physical thing because they’re Succubi/Incubi. It’s a “cultural” norm for the race, I personally don’t like stories with large harems once you hit double digits it’s kinda excessive. Plus I feel like you should have an emotional connection with someone if you’re gonna take them into your harem. I guess you could reason that an immortal could have quite a number of women and still have an emotional connection but this is just a young guy so it’s meh.

Edit: The only story I’ve read where the MC seems to treat his women well (not ignoring them after adding them to the harem) is Dual Cultivation by MyLittleBrother and the MC still has plenty of meaningless s*x, of course he is an Immortal who specializes in Dual Cultivation but it’s a unique view on the concept where he doesn’t just use women for his own needs.
