As an orphan, in desperation in her hunger, she ate the slime slime fruit, a Zoan-type devil fruit mythical sub-class. Her home island was buster called after rumors of Demon Child Nico Robin was hiding on Sakura Island. Not taking any chances, the Navy destroyed everything that survived. When they discovered her, half of her body had turned into pale pink slime. They captured her using seastone chains and knocked her out. For a hundred years, they fed her very little after they discovered that whatever she devoured, she would develop the creature’s abilities.
