I was initially discouraged due to the number of chapter but I got hooked after the first chapter and I didn't drop the book until I finished reading it

Yeah, like Wang Lin is from Ri(renegade immortal) is ruthless but also kind but at least he doesn't call himself demonic. He literally says I am not a saint, nor am I evil, I am me. Plus before people say that sounds like Feng Jiu Ge, Renegade immortal is the inspiration for Ri and is quite old, started in 2007 I believe. Though Wang Lin's sworn brother Situ Nan is demonic and yeah, I can call him demonic. He is not the Fang Yuan type of demon but more like Bai Ning Bing, he is tyrannical and forces others to bend to his will.
