Diana Young, having grown up amidst a tumultuous family environment and constant fighting between a married couple next door, made a vow never to marry or engage in such matters. She couldn't help but see a certain irony in the popular belief that love dwindles once marriage begins, considering marriage is often seen as its ultimate goal. To Diana, love seemed like a letdown, much like the unattainable golden pot at the end of the rainbow. She wondered if perhaps she just needed the perfect partner to reveal the true beauty and lasting nature of love, for she held onto the hope that love might actually transcend its perceived endings.
