Terrance (Rance) Trenton is wrongfully convicted of murder and sentenced to 30 years in Otherlife, an immersive VR game. He is given a 10% penalty on almost every skill and dumped in an isolated mountain hamlet with only a Noob starter kit. He is expected to make his way in the world and be a good citizen. He must overcome the odds stacked against him, and using what real world skills he already possesses, build a life that is productive enough to buy his early release. He also must never forget they will be watching.
