    If I understand correctly, Japans federal age of consent is 13. However, the country gives cities(and their surrounding lands) quite a bit of freedom in deciding laws, etc. As far as I know, the age of consent in Japan is 16 in almost all if not all prefectures. A similar argument was made about middle eastern countries, because their minimum age of consent is non-existent. However, they do have a minimum marriage age, and you can't legally have sex before marriage. The minimum federal age of marriage in the U.S is like 12. Either way, why does an age of consent being low justify marrying a child? Laws aren't always morale.
