    it was not. the story could have ended when they conquered the capital city and it would have been fine. Instead it was dragged out twice as long with pointless stuff that ultimately lead to nothing, accompanied by the MC becoming a doormat more and more, just for the actual  end of the story to be rushed(axed) with some unresolved plotline left standing (dragon wife). You could really see the point the author was either out of ideas or bored of his own work...well now they are focusing on the space merc story apparently...
