This chapter was awesome, the start looks like any battle in shounen but I know Kaku-sensei will put a twist on it.
I am so happy that Kaku-sensei found his niche and style.
I didn't expect Kotton to be a cloth ayakashi, a pretty interesting use of the concept, he adapted part of the folklore to focus on certain qualities of the original myth. I think the length of ten meters in the name is a hint about the limit of his ability, at the page showing the flash of his acceleration you can see that he is breaking at a certain point and accelerating again, which means he has a limit in the distance he can run before he activates his ability again, even if Maruo cant follow the acceleration if Kotton has to pause a second maybe he can get him.
Personally, I don't would call it weird but more creative, now, one thing that I can call "weird" is how the story plays with the value of life. Because of a certain thing in the story, the value of life (especially young life) gets really... twisted, and the author doesn't shy away from being brutal about it, the concept of identity is explored too and you need to keep track of the discussions about it to not feel left out.
That all being said this still is one of the best sci-fi stories period, the art is great and only gets better, the fights and concepts behind the "powers" are so well thought and executed, I recommend it.
