After World War II, the Allied Command in Japan established a new agency to address terrorism and violence in the Pacific region. This agency was staffed with ninja, initially focusing on domestic issues. Over time, the program expanded to its current state, now overseeing 20,000 ninja involved in both domestic and international affairs. Among these ninja is Kudo, a seventeen-year-old high school student who is unexpectedly positioned to be the next line of defense against a potential influx of foreign assassins targeting Tokyo.
My expectations for this manga was high, i was assuming that it would be similar to the manga "Fable" a serious manga that is able to write comedy
This manga is not like Fable, like at all. After reading a couple chapters and learning this, i decided to reread the all the chapters ive read and the new chapters with an open mind. Without drawing comparisons, these are my thoughts
If i had to summarize this manga, it would be "random". The plot is extremely serious, but the characters are not, the characters however take themselves 100% seriously.
The author seems to think that making character be weirdos (like extremely weird) will make the manga "funny"... but it is not working. The manga has some funny moments, but based on the amount of randomness and weirdos he throws at the reader, you can expect a slight chuckel for every 35 absurd things you encounter. An exapmle i will provide is when it shown that a baby is a ceo, but the baby has the mind of a man, but the baby cant talk...
Like i honestly didnt find it really that funny...
Another issue is that There are way to many characters, the author is forcing in charcters that literally serve no purpose imo. For example, the cat and the bike, while the cat i can semi understand the significance, though i believe that it would have been better were the cat more involved. During the 80 chapters or so ive read, the bike was only in like 2-3 chapters.
At certain points the author does surprise the readers by doing things you would never expect. However,The author surprises come randomly. There is no forshadowing or anything, it just happens. The example here is a spoiler so go at ur own risk
Lastly what i really hate about this manga is the pacing, like jesus, 100 chapters in and there are only two notable events that take place. This manga is going at a snails pace
Overall, this manga was not as great as i was hoping for it to be, a big let down as i was told by a friend to check this out
