for anyone wondering, he is not doing a proper blacksmiths work in chapter 4. casting swords is only done with bronze, you cant cast steel. well you can, it just wont be good enough to be a sword. cast steel is brittle, you need to heat chunks of steel up, forge well a bunch together, and then hammer that out into the shape of a sword. author did a lot of good but thats definitely something they did wrong.
