The Divorcée's Dessert Cafe

A lot of the dialogue and characterization is still very surface level, even by chapter 20. A lot of backstory has been fleshed out to set up stakes but, beyond the cliched catfights and royal blood politics, the MC's passions and values are still mixed. Spends about three panels every 4 chapters actually involved with running the cafe or tending to it.

She tries to escape to a far part of the country to leave royal life behind but is fully happy and willing to go to parties and banquets on invite from old royal contacts. She wants a peaceful life but allows practically anyone to get into her business. Her ex-husband the crown prince divorces her in chapter 1 and the story has set up for the last 20 chapters that it is because of his love for another woman, but as the story progresses he literally has no other emotion but anger and frustration. Where did this supposed love go for the secret wife? It should not take 20 chapters to even allude to a reason why he is in his ex wife's business. Plus, there is not a single fleshed out side character this far into the story. The author wanted to focus on a love interest in the form of a knight captain childhood friend, but he had 5 chapters and then fucked right off. Then we transitioned to the second in line young prince, but none of his likes, dislikes, or motivations have been explained at all.The story is frustrating and feels like a drama fantasy at the whim of the author's weekly hyperfixation.
