    3. OK, the guild's ranking system is a lot more respected than I originally thought. Is that made clear later in the story (if you can give a non spoilery answer)? What does that respect entail though? They're not voted in, nor appointed by higher powers like a monarchy, so I'd be surprised to find out that they're given any sort of authority over the general population. That just smells like trouble to me, but hey, it's the authour's world. Getting privileges like access to sensitive information from the guild is just stupid though. Monster patterns and dungeon locations? Sure. The age, rank, ability, wealth and home address of random adventurers? Nah. Lemme give an example:
