Saint Licia is exiled from her homeland when her betrothed, King Darwest of Barsden, breaks their engagement to marry a sorceress. In her despair, Licia receives aid from Laohart, the king of the neighboring realm of Metopolis, which teeters on the edge of ruin. To repay his kindness, Licia employs her sacred powers to gradually guide the desolate land towards peace. As she does so, love begins to blossom between the holy maiden and the king.
However, one kingdom's fortune may spell another's misfortune. With Licia gone, the kingdom of Barsden grows increasingly peculiar. The blessings that come to one may bring misfortune to another, as the absence of Licia leaves Barsden in a state of growing strangeness...
