After being sealed away for a thousand years, the War God Duan Yuxian returns to a world that has forgotten him and his dark past. As he aimlessly wanders through the martial-dominated central plains, he encounters a dying little girl named Xiaomei and revives her out of pity. Despite their attempts to live peacefully as a family, the factions of the martial world refuse to leave them in peace. Now, Duan Yuxian has no choice but to remind them that the War God has truly returned. The Ultimate Martial Divine Demon, Dan Woohyun, was sealed away because his strength was too overwhelming for the world. After a millennium had passed, he was released from his seal and found everything to be devoid of meaning as he roamed the back alleys. Just as he collapsed, feeling weary of the world, a small hand appeared before him.

This is a good series for what it is. I feel like the genre itself is an impediment to it being better.
Basically it's a blend of slice-of-life with episodic action arcs which are often quickly resolved. The MC is incredibly OP but it does a fair job of having other characters do the fighting.
In a way it's kinda like Beware of Chicken but more episodic in its short arcs.

The first half, of the story so far, leans much more heavily towards the family slice-of-life part with that balance tilting to some degree (though still family focused) later on.
The best parts are when the daughter is on screen. She's adorable and full of love, and her family in turn is full of love towards her. Unfortunately as the cast grows and villains keep coming her screen-time feels like it decreases to some degree.

I did feel that season 2 is where things lose focus a little, which is ironic as that's also where the series-long arc is introduced. But it does make me go from judging this as a 8.5/10 found-family easy going to around a 8/10 such story that incorporates more action stuff.
I'm tempted to go a bit lower, because I don't like episodic stories very much. But I'm making allowances for my personal bias.

    A superior Korean wuxia/xianxia father-daughter story is The Baengri Clan's Unwanted Granddaughter (which I'd rate the manhwa a 9, novel a 9.5)

This series is carried by slice of life interactions and cute art, the martial world, regression, and political undercurrents of sects all take a back seat to that. There is some traditional themes where the MC trains up the side characters around him and intervenes in JiangHu as a whim, but it really feels like the B-plot since he's ridiculously powerful to the point of not having stakes.

That said, I still gave it a perfect rating for what it's trying to do specifically: if you're looking for a cute father-(adoptive) daughter tale set in a Wuxia environment and nice art with the slice of life interactions hard carrying the series with just enough martial arts to keep the plot going then give this a try, you'll know if you like it after the first dozen or so chapters, if you're looking for a more traditional regressor weak-to-strong series with a twist or two, this won't be it.

Otherwise, not bad or great. Passes the time.

MC is OP from the start and isn't some noob who needs to "grind" all the way back up struggling to take down third rate enemies.

It's the typical, "tailored" comercial series. It tries to suit the tastes on people that are leaving demographics. It ends up being a mishmash of (Corean) shonen and shoujo tropes, tied together with some comedy and generic MCs.

The synopsis would be a stereotypical shounen cast with randomly watered down attitude/interactions, the backstories of abandoned puppies (even villains) and the most repetitive shoujo comedy ever (litetaly not only on comedy I don't know how Corean shoujo fans withstand such repetition in each chapter).

It's just not for me, the intentionality of every scene is way too palpable, it just tries to gather as many readers as posible jiving a slight twist to the tropes they're used to. If there was a clear plot they're advancing to, I might enjoy, but given there isn't and the MC is an outrageous hypocrite, I'll drop it.

Not bad so far, it's decently funny despite a very shallow plot and close to no world-building. It's still early on but I don't expect that to change. The setting doesn't allow for much to develop since MC is already established as the strongest in existence.

Edit as of chp. 40: If you've read the later chapters of 'Reborn as a Scholar' you'll see quite a few similarities here. Like other stories where the author made the MC way too strong, it tends to sideline the MC in favor of weak side characters instead. The main draw, interactions between Somi and the MC are much fewer than you would expect after reading the synopsis and first few chapters. Currently, it's just been rehashing lame fights with bandits in order to develop the worst side characters in the manhwa so I've decided to stop reading. Hopefully, the author will realize that no one wants yet another generic manhwa with OP MC training his weak comedic relief sidekicks that no one cares about and focuses more on the daughter with OP father aspect that brought me here.
