It's surprisingly common Potato. I'd estimate like 80% of the manga's I've read have a lot of 'evil' merchants that need smiting, saving a beast girl from a slave trader, ext ext. I figure it's a result of most of those worlds have monsters and shit. It's even more cut throat and deadly since life is cheep in worlds like that. Here, it's more like we turned back the clock and she's living in a world with a least the same rules. So the proportion or good-to-bad merchants is more equal. I realize life was cheep in mid-evil times to, but we have accurate depictions of that with the attitudes of the noble's. Not caring what their actions will do to the common people, only caring about themselves and their families.
