Ivar and Thorfinn were both obnoxious. Ivar was trying to do what he’s getting right now, and Thorfinn was way too peaceful in a world where peace can never truly exist because of human nature. They are both to be blamed. Ivar gave them reasons to be paranoid, while Thorfinn didn’t even want to hear the possibility of a completely peaceful solution not being possible. Both of their mistake was not finding a middle ground between all out war and a big friendly smile. This is the result.

I do blame Thorfinn more though, since he is the leader. He risked the life of everyone for his dream, even when it was painfully obvious that peace won’t last. That was the point where he should’ve either listened to Ivar or leave Vinland for good. Now we all know how this will end, and as i said, it’s on both Thorfinn and Ivar.
